This pastel painting was born during a trip to the Lake District. We stopped at what can only be described as a Fawlty Towers-esque hotel in Morecambe Bay, but any misgivings about our stay were soon forgotten when we gazed out from our large waterfront windows.
 
The sunset was spectacular and so vivid and entrancing, that after a wee paddle in the shallows, I couldn’t resist settling down with my pastels in the cooling evening air.
 
The beach stretched wide and undisturbed, the sky alive with colour and drifting clouds. The beauty and energy of the place seemed to transcend its surroundings, leaving a lasting impression, one I captured in this painting.
